im especially looking at the vegans cuz thats what ive been hired there to do. vegan desserts at nite flight. kind you want?

thai night tonight at the grind
i dont know how to spell it in my language... v stands for vegetarian. the best dishes have meat in them so i feel sorry for you veggienerds. these are very very authentic thai/lao recipes from my family. this is a one night event. you will NEVER try thai food like this in any omaha restaurant or most thai restaurants in the u.s.
main dishes
1. red curry chicken noodles with bamboo shoots and potato
with:
fresh cabbage
green onions
2. chicken larb with papaya salad and sticky rice
with:
celery
baby cucumbers
fresh herbs
3. pad thai (xiong family way) (v) (has beef option)
appetizers - served with sweet, spicy fish sauce (with exception of papaya salad)
veggie and noodle spring rolls (v)
shrimp spring rolls
beef and fungus mushrooms with fresh herbs wrapped in rice crepe (??)
rice crepe plain with fried shallots(v)
papaya salad with cabbage (v)
drinks
complimentary wine
or
complimentary lychee martini
fresh brewed thai tea
thai coke (olympic style)
dessert
cold tapioca pearl bowl with coconut milk, burnt sugar and coconut gel (v)
its going to be spicy. i dont wanna hear any complaints! starts around 5:30-6pm. how much will it cost? less than what most people spend at taco bell. this is my heritage. this is the food i came from. i learned to cook from tasting great food growing up. if you truely appreciate good food (and me) you dont want to miss this. hope to see you! |

aug 15 some of you may know the benson grind. its benson's only coffee shop that promotes USDA Certified Organic, Fair Trade, Locally Ground and Bird-Friendly coffee. next friday in the evening i will be opening it as a restaurant. i will be serving authentic southeast asian cuisine. if this night goes well it may turn into a monthly dining experience where the ever changing menu reflects a different culture. or i may change my mind and this may your only chance to taste great food in omaha. EDIT: there's going to be 2 main items off the menu with vegetarian options. there's also an assortment of appetizers that will range from vegan/vegetarian to meat(marq)-friendly. im working on a liquor license but if not it'd be great if i could figure out a byob. this is a place where i want people to hang out, socialize and listen to great music. the profit margin will be very low so the prices will be kept low. i'm not doing it to make money. i just want to expose people to good food and show them there are night life options. plus bored. UPDATE: i've decided to donate all the profits to charity. good food, good cause. now you have no excuse. p.s. its cash only |
